It’s 19 degrees and snowing heavily. We’ve had our dinner, brushed our teeth, and been outside to pee. One of our dads is in the basement playing computer games and the other is sitting across from us on the other couch watching television. We have had our dinner and brushed our teeth. And we’ve been out in the cold snow to pee. We’re all comfy on our couch (not really ours, we have to share). What more could we ask for? Maybe more treats, but that is wishful thinking. What a life we have!
Usually, we wake up, go downstairs and run out to pee without any problems, but not today! We got a snowstorm last night and it dumped 18 inches of snow on our house. We usually like the snow, but we were surprised by how much fell overnight. Cato was lazy and peed on the deck and I managed to make it off the deck to pee. Nevertheless, it was a short bathroom break for both of us. I’m sure once we get used to it, we’ll be out playing in it this afternoon.
We really feel sorry for our little friends, like dachshunds and chihuahuas, who would be buried by all of that snow. We hope your humans shovel a pee path for you all. Otherwise please stay safe and enjoy the white stuff. Spring is only 3 months away, and then we can play in the mud!
Tonight it is snowing and the temperature is only 9 degrees. The only way Cato and I are going outside is to poop or pee, so I’m curled up, nice and cozy on the couch, waiting until it’s time to go to bed.
I can’t help thinking about the poor dogs and cats that don’t have a home to sleep in on nights like these. So, all you humans, please don’t leave your pets outside in freezing cold weather. They deserve to be as warm as you are.
We would like to wish all of our human and pet friends a very Happy New Year. We’re in our pajamas, but there’s no way we are going to stay up until midnight. That’s way past our bedtime.
I hope in 2022 we all enjoy good health and lots of yummy treats. Now off to bed to greet a new year.
Well it’s finally Christmas Eve and we’re anxious to have Santa come to our house. Our dads insisted on taking a Christmas photo and we weren’t happy about it. Please excuse us if we don’t look that happy, but we’re too excited.
We would like to say Merry Christmas to all of our pet friends and their parents. We hope you have a warm and happy holiday. Please, at this joyous time of the year, remember all of those pets who don’t have a family to share with on this holiday and every day of the year.
I have 3 favorite spots in our house. The bedroom where I love to sleep on the bed. The basement, where I can watch the sump pump. And my all-time favorite, the kitchen. Cato’s favorite spot I think it the bed, or any place where both of my dads are at the same time.
I am rarely away from the kitchen when it is occupied by one of my dads. Of course, I am as close to the kitchen table as I can get during mealtime. At breakfast my dad, Steve shares his morning banana with me, and sometimes with Cato, if he isn’t being picky. My dads always try to give us healthy treats, but once and a while we get a piece of meat or, our favorite pizza crusts.
My brother Cato is not as vigilant as I am when it comes to looking for the odd piece of food that could fall of the table or counter. He usually just lies under the table sleeping until he hears my mouth chewing. Then he sits up and waits for something to go his way.
In the picture above you can see me, Lucky, on the left, and Cato, on the right watching every move our dad Kevin is making, just in case, he drops something as he prepares a charcuterie board for a party. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a thing. Oh well, next time!
My dads are always calling me a pig for constantly looking for something to eat. But as I see it, I am only helping the floor stay clean by scarfing up any food before it hits the floor. It’s a job that requires a lot of patience!
We usually only beg from our human parents, but we are asking for help from our readers. My dad renewed this website for another year. He was considering canceling our blog because of the cost, but we begged for one more chance.
He has to pay $120 a year to be able to publish our blog so everyone can see what we are up to. Unfortunately, my dad cannot advertise with Adsense or Infolinks to help pay for maintaining our blog, unless he pays a lot more money to upgrade. He’s retired and is not a millionaire. It’s not as though he wants to earn thousands of dollars a month, even though that would be nice. He did manage to place a couple of ads for Amazon and Chewey, but we don’t think they really work. WordPress does place ads on our site and we have earned all of 3 cents in the past year.
My dad has decided to try giving our blog another year to see if he can afford to pay for the blog and buy us treats, at the same time. He is placing a plea for donations to help pay for our subscription and website and hopes some people reading about us will help and chip in a few bucks as a donation. So if you want to continue reading about us and buy us some treats please help and make a donation.
Some days I’m just so busy! I have to follow my dads around, go out and chase all the birds in our yard, bark at the mailman and the FedEx and UPS drivers, as well as anyone who walks past the house. When the neighbors come home and the kids get off the school bus I have to bark to let them know I’m protecting our house. Whenever one of my dads is in the kitchen I have to follow him around in case he decides to eat anything.
It’s so hard when one of my dads is in his basement office working and the other one is either doing something outside or in the living room. I can’t be with them both at the same time! It is so stressful for me and for my sister lucky when they are not in the same room and sitting down!
After we all eat dinner and we beg for some of our dads’ dinner and Lucky and I have brushed our teeth our dads sit down in the living room to watch television. Finally, we don’t have to follow them around the house. Now Lucky and I are completely exhausted. I can finally lay down on the couch and rest my head for a nap before bedtime. It’s tough being a cattle dog, but I’m happy.
Ever since our dads brought us home 7 years ago they has been wondering what our real breed was. The that my dads got us from said that we were a mix of Australian Cattle Dog and Black Lab. That’s what our vet thought too. For a long time our dads have wanted to test our DNA, because Cato looks a lot different from me, Lucky.
A few weeks ago my dad, Kevin, found a good deal of a DNA kit for dogs. So he swabbed my cheeks and sent it in for analysis. And we waited. Our dads were trying to guess what other breed we might be. I’m very bossy and Cato is very laid back. We are both very protective of our dads and we both stick close to our dads, like velcro. We Cattle dogs are sometimes called velcro dogs because we are always stick to our owners.
My dads and friends guessed that we were a mix of labrador retriever, shepard and even hound. Everybody had to wait for 2 weeks before the results were known.
Today the we got our answer. Cato and I are 61% to 99% Australian Cattle Dog DNA with a trace of Irish Setter! Irish Setter! Who would have guessed? Neither one of us a a single red hair on our body!
We would like to wish everyone a Happy National Puppy Day. Even though we are a lot bigger than the photo above we are still puppies to our dads. And we still act like puppies! We hope all you dog parents give your puppies, big or small, an extra treat today. Have fun everyone.
